Ginty’s Restoration Phase 2 Completed

nʔaʕx̌ʷt – Ginty’s Wetland Restoration – Phase 2 Completed

SILT and its partners have completed Phase 2 of the nʔaʕx̌ʷt – Ginty’s Pond wetland restoration project in Cawston.

Phase 2 restores another one hectare of open water and adds 0.7 hectares of newly created riparian shrub thicket-woodland habitat to this previously cattail-dominated marsh.

Substantial funding was provided by the:

  • BC Wildlife Federation
  • BC Watershed Recovery Fund, and
  • Province of BC Together for Wildlife Fund.

Project leadership is a team collaboration of

  • SILT, BC Wildlife Federation,
  • the Lower Similkameen Indian Band, and
  • the BC Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship.

Read about the project accomplishments here.

SILT must raise $250,000 to restore the final two hectares of the pond.
